After nearly a decade online, one of the internet’s most popular picture resizing tools has now processed 50 million photographs worldwide.

For nine years the service has helped visitors to easily crop, resize and edit their images. During that time, PicResize.com has been a completely free to use online tool.

PicResize.com’s owner and creator, Nich Wattanasin, says reaching the goal has been a dream come true. “When I originally launched PicResize.com, I never imagined that it would help millions of people and actually resize 50 million pictures. Now, the web site has reached that milestone,” says Wattanasin.

PicResize.com has been on the internet since 2005 but it has continuously evolved over the years, with new features added regularly. Thousands of users visit PicResize.com every day and resize more than 50,000 pictures on average daily.

PicResize.com also offers an array of editing tools and filters, along with the option of sharing images directly to Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. Users are able to upload and edit pictures from their own computers or from the internet. Wattanasin says the service will continue to expand based on the needs of its visitors.

PicResize.com began in a college dormitory, where Wattanasin developed the service to help friends and roommates edit their pictures quickly in any web browser. Now, according to web traffic data analytics service Alexa.com, PicResize.com is one of the top 6,000 most visited websites in the world.

As a result of those excellent suggestions and comments, the following changes are now available:

Quick Resize changes: We have added Rotate my picture to the Quick Resize menu, allowing you to optionally rotate your picture 90 degrees clockwise, counterclockwise, or 180 degrees upside down

"Remember my settings" feature: Also in the Quick Resize menu, you'll find a Remember my settings for next time checkbox that allows you to save your last quick resize settings. When you return to PicResize.com, your preferences will be automatically loaded in the Quick Resize menu for your next picture

Resize Multiple Pictures / Batch Resize fixed: We have fixed a few bugs which should make the Batch Resize feature more stable. You'll also find a more prominent Multiple Pics link from the main page directing you to the Batch Resize feature

Minor bug fix: We have fixed an issue encountered when uploading really large pictures. Uploading large pictures (up to 100MB) should be more stable now

We've officially relaunched with an updated version of PicResize packed with a number of new features. I'll outline the major ones below and leave you to find the other ones yourself!

In addition to uploading pictures from your computer, you can now load them directly from online or paste them from your clipboard

As mentioned earlier, drag an image file from your computer directly onto the PicResize home page is now possible with HTML5 support

Expanded editing tools: besides cropping and rotating, feel free to flip your image horizontally or vertically

Updated special effects: many new filters with sample previews in case you forget what each one does

New Save function allows you to specify a maximum file size that you want your image file to be in kilobytes--easily conquer those pesky limitations of "image must be below X kilobytes" that you see around

Completely revamped Save to Web feature now allows you to easily host your picture directly with PicResize (for free, of course!), and optionally share on your favorite social networking site such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and more

Last but not least, we've added a selection of tools to assist your use of PicResize such as the Help center with tutorials, custom and advanced linking for Webmasters, and even a PicResize Bookmarklet browser-plugin to send any picture on a web page directly to PicResize.com!

As you can see below, we have come a long way since 2005...
